November 27-December 3

Advent is a season celebrated by the church throughout the four weeks leading up to Christmas. During Advent we look forward to the birth of Christ, the moment when divinity and humanity become one. Jesus is born and is the Love and Mercy of God amongst us. We live in darkness, yet look to Jesus, the light of the world who is not overcome. We experience deep despair, yet look to Jesus who took on our despair all the way to the cross. We have a companion who is stands with us, who believes in us and who continually lifts us up again and again.

As Pope Francis says, “Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy. These words might well sum up the mystery of the Christian faith. Mercy has become living and visible in Jesus of Nazareth, reaching its culmination in him…Jesus of Nazareth, by his words, his actions and his entire person reveals the mercy of God.” During Advent, we look forward to the mercy of God being born into the world to show us the true nature of Love.

May you feel the peace of Christ this season. Love from Franciscan Works + Liberia Mission, Inc.!
